Today! Current and old trends in K-Pop on Youtube.

Trends in Culture: 'Same, same but different.

YouTube and the rise of K-Pop in mainstream Western culture!

It has been a year since Psy's legendary video, "Gangnam Style", has been unleashed on Youtube, and the vid has currently rocked the eyeballs of over 1.7 billion human beings around the globe. The videos views are the highest Youtube has ever seen over the eight years of its now monolithic existence.

Youtube has been allowing millions of people  and share thoughts, ideas, and cats jumping into cardboard boxes in a global community.

We know it's big, but how big?

Why is this video the ignition switch for K-Pop's rankings and a global interest in Korean music and culture? The reasons may lie in Western culture, (we're not sure why) and the shift of thinking. The exposure to a range of new cultures and ideas through Youtube and many other social media sites forms the capability of a globally shared world.

It's exciting!

Our minds are expanding, then the possibilities are endless?

Here's a chart of monthly views on top K-Pop channels, including PSY:

Quite possibly, I think we'll see a shift of Korean and Chinese music and culture having an increasingly significant emergence in Western and European society.

This is really exciting!

So, this is an example of K-Pop culture spreading across borders and countries, even though the music is in a different language.

What does it mean?

I think its healty to get out there and explore what other cultures and their music and food is like, and experience different things. I think you'll explore more about yourself than you first think.
